KEVIN M. HUSS
Attorney
I have been practicing law in Muskegon since 2008, and founded Lumbertown Law in 2020. Throughout my career, I have focused on estate planning, probate and trust administration, and real estate matters. My goal is to find practical solutions to clients' legal issues, and I strive to be down-to-earth and approachable, both in the office and in the community.

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 2005 and a Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2008. I also hold a Certificate of Completion in the areas of probate and estate planning issued by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and I make sure to update this Certificate annually to stay on top of the latest developments and trends in the areas of estate planning and probate. Since 2016, I have been honored to have been designated as a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers in the areas of estate planning and probate.

Giving back to the community is very important to me. I have always called Muskegon home, and I look for opportunities to serve the community whenever possible. I currently sit on several community boards, including the Hackley Public Library Board of Trustees, Family Financial Credit Union Board of Directors and Michigan Irish Music Festival Board of Directors. I have previously served on the Hume Home of Muskegon Board of Directors, City of Muskegon Civil Service Commission, the Board of Directors of the Nancy K. and Sherman R. Poppen Programs, and as an Ambassador for the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce.

I have been a member of the State Bar of Michigan since 2008, and am currently a member of its Probate & Estate Planning Section. I have also been a member of the Muskegon County Bar Association since 2008, and served on its Board of Directors from 2012-2017, including serving as its President in 2016-2017 and have been a member of the Lake Michigan Estate Planning Council since 2008. I served on the board of directors for the Lake Michigan Estate Planning Council from 2020 through 2023.

My wife and I are committed to downtown Muskegon, where we both live and work. We're fortunate to be raising our daughter in our hometown surrounded by our very supportive families. During the summer months, we spend time traveling around Northern Michigan, pulling a travel trailer and camping throughout the state. I try (poorly) to golf when possible, and I am an avid fan of University of Michigan athletics and the Detroit Tigers.
